We stayed at the Shanghai Bangkok Mansions at the start and end of our two week holiday in Thailand.  The location was ideal, buzzy Chinatown with lots going on and we felt very safe even late at night. It doesn't come alive until after dark. Great live music each night.  I booked two rooms, mine was lovely and bright but the second room was on the opposite side so was dark. The beds are so comfortable. We asked for two brighter rooms on the return visit which we got.  The first person we met was Korn who helped us take our baggage to our rooms. He was an absolute star on our return journey. We were leaving in the evening following the earthquake in Myanmar with tremors felt across Bangkok. We arrived back at the hotel after being caught up in the commercial area in the afternoon.  He advised us to leave for the airport as early as possible. The city was gridlocked with metros and skytrains suspended and taxis in demand. He kept checking on us but unfortunately our Grab was delayed by 1.5 hours and never arrived. We were going to miss our flight back to the UK. He negotiated with a taxi driver who happened to stop and we are beyond grateful for his actions. It took four hours to get to the airport. Two hours whilst in the taxi.  We made the flight as it was delayed by one hour so please let him know we made it thanks to him!  All the staff are lovely but Korn really does go above and beyond and deserves special recognition.

+ Location! You're living in Yaowarat Road so Street Food everywhere!! + In the middle of the action of Chinatown (I would recommend to eat Lao Teng Dim sum and Nai Ek Rolled Noodles they are just across the hotel!) + Live music every day in front of the hotel..it's like a party EVERY DAY! I loved it a lot! when I came to the hotel by taxi it was like a welcome party...(i arrived around 21:00 P.M. so they were jamming already by then) + Chinese styled rooms (I had Shanghai Tan Vibes all the time) Where is Chow Yun Fat? Haha + Staff check in was so nice they took their time to talk to customers where you're from and where you're heading next. it's nice to actually have a conversation instead of only business check in and BYE this is your room key. I've only seen this service in very expensive rooms/hotels so for a 4-star hotel this is AMAZING! Hats off for staff + Decoration of the hallways, General living room spaces + Breakfast is great! warm food and also egg/dessert/dimsum station

The hotel and rooms are beautifully decorated, you really get the chinatown art deco vibes. Breakfast was amazing, not just an omelet station but a noodle soup station with noodles soup made fresh for you. It was great to get to taste both dumplings and chinese cakes as well as the standard breakfast food. There was great selection and variety. The location is perfect for exploring this part of Bangkok and getting a bus to go down town was easy. Loads of street food and great restaurants just outside the door. We also went down some side streets and found some great cocktail bars. We had a great time.

The location was fantastic!!! The vibe, energy and buzz with the street market at night in China Town was just amazing! The live music every night at the RedRose restaurant was great. The musicians were very very good and it just created this cool vibe. This is definitely one of the best hotels I have stayed. I would stay here again if in Bangkok. The staff were fantastic…especially Korn and M!! They were super helpful and attentive, Korn helped organise transportation a couple of times for me. The room was beautiful, the decor and attention to detail!

Funky hotel in a great location in Bangkok’s Chinatown. We were there the week before Chinese new year and it was busy, chaotic, vibrant and wonderful out in the streets surrounding the hotel. So much doing on but perfectly silent in the hotel. We had two rooms which were both immaculate and super comfortable. Great adjoining bathrooms with good hot water and particularly nice soaps/ shampoos. Definitely recommend for a few days stay. .
